The Registered Counselor credential will be abolished by law as of July 1, 2010. The new Washington State law, which became effective July 1, 2009, created a new Certified Counselor credential. In order to practice independent mental health counseling in Washington State after July 1, 2010, all registered practitioners must seek licensure or registration under another credential, or become a Certified Counselor.
This 2-day course meets the Washington State 6hr training requirement for the new Certified Counselor credential, covering risk assessment, ethics, appropriate screening using the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) scale, client referral, and Washington State law.
